Carmen Amaya Fountain Square was originally built on February 16, 1959, on a hidden corner of a small coastal promenade. The construction of the promenade made of
weather-resistant steel piles has created a physical barrier of more than 3 meters between the Barcelona metropolitan area and the beach. With the completion of the CArmen Amaya fountain, the problem of the new promenade has been solved.

Dancer Carmen Amaya's name is engraved on a weathering steel plate and placed in the most prominent position. There is a slope on the side of the square, and the long steps are slowly inclined, gradually integrating into the slope.
The weathering steel plate will change with time. Its color is greatly affected by the environment and climate. After a long period of time, it is easy to change from bright reddish brown to dark reddish brown. It can trace the historical sense of the site and record the momentary sense of time 2. Extend the vitality of the site, allow limited materials to “symbiotic” with each other, and reflect a sustainable design concept.
The reconstruction realized the barrier-free access to the waterfront, optimized the square and the border space, and became a new urban landscape.
