Design: Víctor Díaz Paunetto AIA
Architect Víctor Díaz Paunetto completed the renovation of an abandoned building into a school room, located in Corozal, Puerto Rico. The restoration of this existing structure (dating back to the 1960s and abandoned in the 1980s) must be concise, consistent and long-lasting. To achieve this effect, the firm designed a weather-resistant steel surface to establish a relationship with the natural environment. This surface layer has become a sunscreen barrier, and it is also equipped with multicolored glass panels, which were designed as a kindergarten before the building, helping the indoor space to be bathed in transmissive and multicolored lights.
