GELM Annex case

2019-09-04
This project is expected to be a case study of how the recycling of existing structures can become a driving force for the sustainable development of the built environment, demonstrating how the challenge of repurposing can be seen as a new model of redevelopment that is consistent with the challenge of a designer/builder completing the project with a very limited budget and time. The restoration of the existing structure, which dates back to the 1960s and was abandoned in the 1980s, must be concise, consistent and permanent. To achieve this, the firm designed a weathering steel surface that establishes a relationship with the natural environment.

This facade ACTS as a sun screen and also features colorful glass panels, borrowed from the building's previous design as a kindergarten, to help bathe the interior space in light and colors.
