Schneider + Schumacher won this redevelopment of the former Roman manor in 2010. Their starting point was to refine the elements of historical architecture and to create an accessible sculpture pavilion. This transparent villa is made up of sheet-shaped weathering steel, and the unusual space experience makes visitors linger.
Weathering steel is perfectly resistant to weather and time. The jury highly valued the design in a concise way to comprehend the true meaning of history. The landscape design will be completed in the summer of 2013, and some other weathering steel elements will be cleverly distributed in the landscape.
