Express historical facts and convey the designer's understanding of the spiritual connotation of historical events. The material space of the landscape is to build a dialogue bridge between designers and visitors. The
Q345NH weathering steel design of the Zhongguancun Weathering Steel Red Army Cemetery in Guizhou mainly shows two aspects. The first is the historical fact of the Red Army Long March. The second is the memory of Hou Zhongmao, the ordinary warrior who died of illness in the war.
The landscape of the weather-resistant steel red army cemetery is built to the maximum extent possible into the surrounding environment. On the scale, the extension of the horizontal direction reflects the far-reaching significance of the commemorative landscape. Rather than creating a grand and oppressive sense in the vertical direction. The cemetery that can be seen in the distance is only half of the landscape pavilion made of weather-resistant steel. Others are hidden in the mountains and farmland. The whole project is a long field road, connecting various landscape nodes in series, 2.5km long road, not flat, but some cramped, it is a symbol of the Red Army's 25,000-mile long march, and 18 steel signs are set on the way. Visitors are able to see important node events in the Long March that are arranged over time. Hou Zhongmao's tomb is a space climax. The dark reddish-brown weather-resistant steel pavilion stretches out from the hillside. When the visitors walk on the trail, they act as a visual focus, like a banner, guiding the direction of exploration.
In the design of the Red Army Cemetery, only two materials, stone and Q345NH weathering steel, were used. Stone is the most common material in the area and is well integrated into the environment. The
weathering steel is dark reddish brown under the influence of time, which is in sharp contrast with the green background.
As we approached the cemetery, a stone wall runs through the entire cemetery. The stone wall slowly rises from the ground and gradually returns to the land, symbolizing a small wave in the entire historical river, a young life struggled. But it disappeared silently.
The rusted steel pipe array combined with the stone wall at the entrance is like the unnamed Red Army soldiers like Hou Zhongmao, who gave their lives on the Long March road. The landscape pavilion is a square block composed of Q345NH weathering steel. It can be seen from different angles, showing both virtual and real states. When it is in the woods, the flag that flies in the war is like the fate of mankind in war. Different visitors can have different understandings. The height of the landscape pavilion is only 2.8m and the width is 1.2m. It is a space suitable for one person or two to stay, think and talk. The landscape pavilion is not only the entrance to the cemetery, but also the village overlooking the history and the current time and space dialogue.
